Rooms With Style Home Staging Minneapolis MN: Benjamin Moore Announces It's 2012 "Color of the Year".

Benjamin Moore Announces It's 2012 "Color of the Year".

Remember last year's color?? Persimmon? Ugh....it was okay for for an accent here and there but other than that I really didn't like it.

This year....I am liking Benjamin Moore's pick: Wythe Blue.

Soothing, classy, elegant yet hip and modern. Here is what they say about it:

2012 Color of the Year!

"Much more versatile than you may think, blue is truly a classic color. It has universal appeal, never goes out of style, and is overwhelmingly chosen as a color favorite across North America. It evokes the sea and sky, physically calms us, and symbolizes trust and commitment.

Because of the influence that blue has in our world today, we have chosen wythe blue (HC-143) as Benjamin Moore's 2012 Color of the Year. It's a beautiful, calming hue that has an element of heritage and offers grounding rootedness, providing comfort and stability."

Here are Benjamin Moore's other Color Trends for 2012.

Spiced Life

A palette of well-seasoned hues that offer a refined perspective.

Sense & Sensability

Timeless colors that make an established home feel contemporary and a new one a little more worldly.

Earth & Sky

Nature's hues unite for a style-savvy palette that transcends organic roots.

Eclectic Elegance

This diverse palette offers a clean, tailored look that works well with any decor.

I am pretty sure I would never have persimmon in my house!  Pashmina, storm cloud grey, and fresh olive are my picks!

To be honest with you Shar, I'm not diggin' the color at all, but that's just a personal preference.  Blue is probably my least favorite color...............are you surprised?  LOL.  I kind of like last years choice.  Just sayin.....................

Hi Shar,

Pretty interesting stuff!

They keep on coming up with new names and new hues and new combinations.

I always like the result, but would never come up with it myself.

Thanks for the post

Phil

Shar:  Blue?  Really?  Just when I am planning to repaint the master bedroom from the french blue and now Benjamin Moore has decided the company likes blue!  ARG

Shar - thanks for sharing Benjamin Moore's top color - I love it and have a similar color in my bedroom. I love most of these colors and it makes me feel like repainting a few rooms in my house - however we only painted 4 years ago so I'm going to have to wait. The only room I ever painted was a bathroom and it took me 3 days and so many rolls of blue tape that I decided never again! Have a wonderful new year!

yes, much better and I've seen this color and the Montpelier in some of the older, wealthier homes in our area.  Very classy.

Not sure what they were thinking w/ Persimmon.  I hate that color for homes - rather cheap looking and certainly not elegant.  I could see this potentially as an accent color, but there are much better choices.

I like your picks Peggy. I really like French Press and Masada.

Hey Roger, blue is my least favorite color too but I like it so much more than Persimmon. I really disliked everything about that color, ha. I could see this blue in a cottage style room or a bedroom.....

I love the names they come up with Phil, usually more than the color itself!

haHAAHH....but if you are tired of it Valerie it is time.

It is a great color for a bedroom. Very soothing Kristine. Wishing you a great New Year as well!

I have seen it in very traditional older homes too Debbie. Some form of light blue really keeps coming back around doesn't it?

Good morning Shar. I remember a time when going to the paint store meant choosing among five or six colors. Today it is a job. I really love this years color. Happy New Year.

I'm going to be repainting the house I'm buying and was leaning toward the gray/brown color palette....now I may have to consider a room or two in blue.

Now that is a stunning color!  And I am just beginning to paint my entire home!!!  Perfect timing.  Hope you are having a wonderful time!

Hi Shar ~ it's interesting how paint companies have entire marketing departments to name and describe their colors -- it must keep a lot of people employed  :-)

I love the combination of Masada and Dunmore Cream ... as a matter of fact it was used in the living room of a home I staged recently, with Masada as the accent wall.  The house sold in 3 days.

I absolutely love that blue color!  My daughter-in-law is getting ready to paint her house.  They've been there for a year and all their walls are white.  She's been talking about blue and I think this is perfect for their house!

Shar - I love Wythe blue.  It strikes me as a somewhat Swedish historical colour.  Just beautiful.

Posted by Sally Weatherley-Exit Stage Right-Vancouver BC (EXIT STAGE RIGHT) 5 months ago

Picking paint colors is a job Sheila! With literally thousands of colors to choose from.

Blue in a room would be beautiful with the rest of the house grey/brown Sharon. Remember....pictures!

Like I just reminded Sharon...pictures Laura! We are having a fabulous time, thank you.

That is a stunning combination Maureen. I haven't used Dunmore Cream before but I just recommended Masada for a client's accent color around their fireplace. I love that color!

Ugh, white walls are the worst Donna! :) Make sure you pass these colors on to her....

I was thinking it was historical too Sally but I missed the Swedish part! lol

Hi Shar--I like the Wythe Blue--very classic and gorgeous in that room.  I do, however, love the Persimmon.  Not a whole room full of it.  It is just that highly saturated colors seem to work well in this climate.

Shar, I am with YOU, persimmon would not be my choice of colors for a home for sale!   Hope you have a very Happy New Year, and a successful 2012!

Hi Shar:  Nice color this year, I agree, I would off-set it wit beige in my  house.  Have A Happy New Year and beyond in 2012!

Good morning Shar,

I never could get into the Persimmon color and I don't think many others did either! Wythe Blue is very regal and calming and many colors could be added to make it pop!

That pink salmon color was scary but the others are more earth tone and soothing, thanks for sharing.

I can see where Persimmon would work better in Hawaii Janet, no doubt.

I'm not crazy about it even if my client isn't moving Joan! ;) Hope you have a wonderful 2012 as well.

You can do alot of things with this color for sure Jane.

You are welcome Anne. I love those two colors too.

Totally agree with you Dorie!

I thought it was a little scary too David.....good adjective.

I know, isn't it fun Lisa. Some years the pick winners...some years not so much. I think they should ask me my opinion. LOL

Wow!  Love this post, Shar.  Yes, this year's color is so easy on the soul.  Looks inviting and relaxing as well as cozy.

My dining room is still a soft coral which I still love, but I may consider repainting the family room this year.

Thanks for popping over to my site recently.

Hi Shar, I do like the new color choice for 2012. I find it soothing, not jarring. How influential is this company. Does it mean everyone will have this color now?

Posted by Sandy Nichols Acevedo, Prudential Calif Ventura County Homes for Sale (951-290-8588) 5 months ago

Sandy, Benjamine Moore is an huge and extremely popular paint company with a lot of influence. Plus they have GREAT colors. Will everyone have it? Hmm....not necessarily. When I go in to assist in Designing someone's home they may ask what the trends are but it still comes down to what they like as they need to love it. It is always about them in that case. Different than when they are selling.

We used Benjamin Moore when we had our house painted and loved the colors. The ones above - totally my taste!

Posted by LaNita Cates (REMAX of Joliet) 4 months ago

Shar if a color is not in an 8 pack of crayons I do not know what to call it.  Guess why that is why I am not a stager.

Shar, I love BM new color choice. It looks very elegant and sophisticated. I am thinking to paint my house since we've lived here for 5 years now. I am leaning toward to the gray tones.
